HOW DID YOU MEET? We met through a mutual friend! My friend was working with Seth in Boston at the time and she introduced us to each other. Seth asked Ashley out to dinner and the rest was history!
WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO HIM? I was initially drawn to his eyes, handsome smile, and dimples! I also love his humor and intelligence. He teaches me something new every single day! I love the fact that we can be super goofy together and we just end up laughing until it hurts! He really is my best friend. When we moved to Oregon, we decided to adopt the sweetest puppy, Winnie. Seth is the best dog dad and I love watching them play together! It truly melts my heart knowing that he will be the best father to our children someday.
WHAT ATTRACTED HIM TO HER? I was immediately infatuated with Ashley’s intelligence and passion for the things that she loves. I also love her empathy and care for others. I just melt at the sight of her beautiful smile!
YOUR PROPOSAL STORY: We met in the summer of 2015 while Seth was working in Boston and Ashley was getting ready for her senior year of college at UNE. Seth spent that whole year driving up to Maine almost every weekend, where we went apple-picking, walked along the rocky shore, and grew further in love with each other. The following year as Ashley prepared for medical school in Oregon, we decided to make the journey together.
On August 5th, 2016, we packed all of our belongings (plus one lone can of organic black beans) into one car and made the 3,110 mile trip from Southern New Hampshire to Portland, Oregon in 3.5 days. Not even two months into our time in Oregon, we realized that we wanted to take the next step in our relationship and we adopted our 3 month old sweet baby Winnie, who became the perfect addition to our little family.
While making the rounds and asking Ashley’s family members for their approval for her hand in marriage during Christmas of 2018, the surprise was almost ruined by Ashley’s Pepere who loudly announced to the whole family that he thought Seth was proposing on Christmas Day. It wasn’t until the next summer that the plan finally came to fruition.
After three years of non-stop work, we finally took our first official vacation in Malibu, CA, during the summer of 2019. Seth surprised Ashley with an evening trip to Laguna Beach where he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes and the rest is history!
TELL US YOUR COVID WEDDING PLANNING EXPERIENCE: 2020 has been a difficult year for so many reasons! Luckily, we had originally planned our wedding for the summer of 2021 in Rhode Island. Planning a wedding across the country has its challenges, but thankfully we have an incredible team of vendors helping us navigate the process. We had most of our wedding planned before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, but there are things that we were still not able to do. We are just trying to think creatively during these unprecedented times and really just go with the flow. For example, one of my Maids of Honor will be tasting our wedding cake samples while she is on FaceTime with us and I will be having a virtual gown try-on session with my bridal party. Our hearts go out to those who have been affected by COVID-19 and to the couples who have had to postpone their dream wedding. We hope that their special day will still be just as beautiful and magical as it would have been. Love is not canceled!
